My father's side has been in New York State (Albany/Schenectady) since 1680 from the Netherlands. My mother's side came from Italy much more recently, in the early 1900's. My Great Aunt Giovanna was turned away at Ellis Island for trachoma (eye infection) and returned to Italy alone at a young age. We're proud New Yorkers!
