August 21: Dial M for Murder
Academy Award winners Grace Kelly and Ray Milland star with Robert Cummings in one of Alfred Hitchcock's greatest thrillers--Dial M for Murder. When playboy tennis pro Tony Wendice (Milland--The Lost Weekend) discovers his rich wife, Margot (Kelly--Rear Window, To Catch a Thief), is having an affair with handsome American Mark Hallidy (Cummings--The Carpetbaggers), he devises an ingenious plot to murder her. But when his scheme takes an unexpected, deadly twist, Tony improvises--implicating Margot for first degree murder in this classic spellbinder.
August 28: Matilda
An intelligent little girl who is neglected by her parents discovers that she has telekinetic powers. Not until a teacher shows her kindness for the first time does she realize that she can use those powers to do something about her sufferings and help her friends as well.
September 4: The Thin Man
First and best of the famous whodunit series has the wisecracking, martini-sipping husband-and-wife sleuthing team of Nick and Nora Charles investigating the disappearance of an inventor who later is implicated in the murder of his secretary. The film, an adaptation of a Dashiell Hammett private-eye classic, was followed by five sequels. Incidentally, "The Thin Man" refers to the inventor, not Nick Charles.
