William T. Williams' artistic career is characterized by boldly colored compositions that challenge the standards of abstraction through incorporating innovative materials, textures, and references to the decorative arts, sculptures and architecture. Sweets Crane consists of a bronze-gold colored center painted in rich brushstrokes in contrast to the overlapping, opaque and flat “frames” of bright colors. Williams’ evokes movement into his composition as the brightly-colored “frames” appear to both project outward and recede towards the background.
