Oli Sihvonen’s Untitled (1968-69) is one of sixteen works commissioned for the Empire State Plaza Art Collection and is located on the lobby wall of an Empire State Plaza agency building. Monumental in size, the large canvas of red visually vibrates into the viewer’s field of vision. At first glance, the dark red, yellow, and blue ellipses appear to be placed sporadically throughout the canvas; however, upon closer inspection, a pattern is revealed among the painting’s halves
