Ellsworth Kelly did not adhere to one formal school of art and worked in a diverse range of mediums exploring forms and colors and emphasizing spatial relationships with nature. With the production of Yellow Blue, Kelly attempted to remove the artist’s presence from the work by eliminating brushstrokes or other distractions from the color of the two adjoining panels. Depending on the viewer’s location, the colors, shape, and dimensionality of Yellow Blue may change.
